Most people are averse to pain, mostly because pain is, well, pain. No one wants it, but it is your body’s way of telling you that you are doing something wrong, i.e., over-stretching or exceeding the body’s range of movement; or doing something right, i.e., muscle pain after exercising.

Whatever pain you might be experiencing, ignoring it is a huge mistake. Most people ignore pain because they think that it will just pass and that it is just a result of fatigue or stress. However, more often than not, your body is using pain to call your attention because something is wrong. Here are some examples of seemingly ordinary pain that might be a prelude to something else:

Headaches. This is the number one pain that people often ignore because headaches can be caused by simple migraines and colds, which are not life-threatening, but what you don’t know is that they can also be caused by a brain tumor or a brain hemorrhage.

The general rule is if you feel pain, especially recurring pain, you need to see your doctor immediately. If it turns out to be nothing, then good for you. If it does turn out to be something, then you might have just saved your life.
